What’s cookin’ good lookin’?
First of all hope you all had the happiest holi ever and enjoyed to your heart content.
And now on to the today’s post. What’s different about this post you ask?
We may have come across many posts saying how to take precautions before holi and ways to prevent damage before holi, but come on let’s face we are too excited to give any ish…to those instructions and probably forget atleast something or the other.
Well in this case I have got you covered, because this blog is all about controlling the after effects of a wild holi.
Hair
- First thing to do: Apply yogurt or curd to your hair and let it sit for about 30 mins, rather than washing it over and over to get rid of the color later rinse with normal tap water.
- Use a mild shampoo and conditioner to avoid excess damage.
- Keep your hair away from heating tools atleast a week after the holi fest.
- It is suggested to use coconut milk or mustard oil for next week before washing your hair,as this will regain and help your reconstruct from the damage that has been caused.
Face
- Use home-made scrubs such as a mixture of gram flour(besan) with sugar and curd, keep for 15 mins and wash it with cold water. As your daily scrubs might contain chemicals which might be more harmful for face.
- Atleast make it an effort to use coconut or olive oil to massage in circular motions and let it sit for 5 mins and then wash face as normal.
- Take off the mixture with a muslin cloth, rather than a towel.
- Keep your face makeup free for atleast a day or two, so that your skin can get required time rejuvenate and regain it’s previous state.
- It is highly recommended to immediately put on SPF as well as a nice face cream to keep the skin hydrated.
Body
- Do not take hot water bath as it will make skin more drier.Lukewarm shower is suggested.
- Rub oil on the skin after playing with colors as this will make the colors loose and easier to get rid off.
- Over exfoliation and long bath can cause more damage. Instead take small shower with a gentle soap or mild shower gel.
- After exfoliation moisturize skin thoroughly. Any body oil, heavy moisturizer/body butter is recommended.
- After bath atleast for a week moisturize and apply sunscreen to your body to control any further damage.
- Stay away from any kind of acetone, chemical nail polish remover or bleach to remove color because it damages skin’s PH level and makes it more sensitive.
